Position Profile Requirements:
Experienced registered practical nurse
Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Extensive knowledge in nursing role and enhances scope
Strong knowledge of practice and regulations
Key Responsibilities:
Provide professional nursing care, within defined scope of practice, to clients based on patient assessment and care planning procedures
Plan, carry out, and evaluate nursing care
Perform nursing interventions such as taking vital signs, applying aseptic techniques including sterile dressing, ensuring infection control, monitoring nutritional intake and conducting specimen collection
Administer medication and observe and document therapeutic effects
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative personal and comfort care
- Monitor established respiratory therapy and intravenous therapy
- Monitor patients' progress, evaluate and document effectiveness of nursing interventions and collaborate with appropriate members of health care team
- Provide safety and health education to individuals and their families.
- Maintain and enhance knowledge of practice and regulations
- Exercise judgement in meeting patient needs
Qualifications/Experience:
Diploma from approved Practical Nurse program with medication certificate
Current registration and in good standing with College of Nurses of Ontario
Mandatory certification in CPR Reliable and cooperative, effective interpersonal relationships
Ability to communicate in the local native Cree language is an asset
